As a result, Lineker was joined by Martin Keown and Micah Richards as they analyzed the matches, including Man United’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth and Newcastle’s emphatic victory against Tottenham.

Regarding

“Unfortunately I suffered a painful back injury while on vacation with my family, but I look forward to being part of the team in the near future.

“Good luck to @GaryLineker and the guys on tonight’s show and see you soon.”

Responding to Rooney’s post, Lineker said: “There will be other opportunities. Get fit soon,” with a thumbs-up emoji.

Rooney is seeking opportunities to return to management following his dismissal as Birmingham City manager in January this year.

Having previously managed Derby County and DC United, England’s top scorer will hope to make a big impression on his return.
