That’s when police said the suspect and officers exchanged gunfire, resulting in a standoff. No officers were injured in the exchange of fire. It is not known if the suspect was hit by gunfire or injured. The Clinton County Emergency Management Agency said the standoff is over, but some operations are continuing at the scene. No further details have yet been released. The identity of the suspect has not been revealed. State Route 73 is closed in both directions between Mitchell Road and State Route 380. State Route 380 is also closed between State Route 73 and Brimstone Road. The road is expected to reopen shortly, Clinton County EMA said in an update. A lockdown is in effect for all buildings within a one-mile radius of Smith Road and Center Road, according to Clinton County EMA. Residents and businesses are asked to lock their doors. This situation continues to evolve. I condemn violence in all its forms. It is important to support peaceful dissent and for the public to go through the appropriate channels to express that dissent with government institutions. The Bailiffs Division of the Hamilton County Clerk shares responsibility for courtroom security at the Hamilton County Courthouse.Along with our partners at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, our bailiffs provide security for our judges, court clerks , courtroom staff and the public.
