Goodyear Millennium is now deprived of its dynamic duo that has led the Tigers to the last two games of the 5A state basketball championship.
More than two months after two-time Arizona forward DaRon Holmes announced he was leaving Millennium to play his senior season at Montverde Academy in Florida, point guard Justus Jackson leaves to play Eduprize Prep in Gilbert.
Former professional football receiver Chris Jackson tweeted the news of his son on Friday.
If Jackson and Holmes hadn’t left, Millennium was the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s top team in the 2020-2021 season with the addition of 6-foot-8 sophomore Isaac Hymes from Hillcrest Prep.
Jackson, 6, who has several Division I college basketball offerings including Grand Canyon, averaged 14.3 points, 5.4 assists and 2.9 rebounds on the 24-6 Tigers team. last season.
He started in college in his freshman year at Millennium, where he averaged 14 career points per game.
Eduprize is one of the last national high school teams to emerge in the Valley, having hired former Glendale Deer Valley High School, Arizona State and UTEP basketball player Christian Polk to lead the program.
Jackson is among the top three players in the state leaving AIA for Eduprize.
Former Phoenix Shadow Mountain guard Devontes Cobbs and former Gilbert striker Perry Duke Brennan both joined Eduprize earlier this month.
Eduprize Prep, a charter school, has both a national team and an open division team that plays in the Canyon Athletic Association.
