CASSANDRA RAHMING IS NOT JUST A GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH WHO BECAME THE FIRST WOMAN AND FIRST BLACK WOMAN IN PALM BEACH COUNTY TO WIN 500 GAMES AND BE INDUCED INTO THE PALM BEACH SPORTS HALL OF FAME THIS YEAR . BUT SHE ALSO BREAKING RECORDS AS A STUDENT ATHLETE HERE IN THE DISTRICT, AVERAGING 29 POINTS PER GAME. FIRST COUNTY PLAYER TO SCORE MORE THAN 2000 POINTS IN HIS CAREER. And she is the county’s all-time leading scorer for both girls and boys. His family here at Palm Beach Lakes High School adores him. YEAH, IT’S A GREAT FEELING. Especially because, like I said earlier, you know, often you don’t get your flowers until you leave, so you can’t smell them then. OH, SHE LOVES THE GAME, BUT SHE’S MORE THAN A COACH TO HER PLAYERS. I try to be everything they need me to be. A lot of them come from single parent homes and they have dreams, and I just try to always let them know that if you work hard, things can happen for you. Palm Beach Lakes Community High School surprised girls basketball coach Cassandra Rahming Tuesday afternoon with an assembly to celebrate her accomplishments. Rahming was inducted into the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame in March 2024. In 2022, Rahming won the honor as the first woman. and first African-American coach in Palm Beach County history to reach 500 wins. Staff, students, friends and family filled the school auditorium to pay their respects. “It’s just a special moment and I’ll remember it forever,” Rahming said. The coach also broke records as a Palm Beach County School District student-athlete and four-year starter on the basketball team, who led Palm Beach County in scoring throughout of his career, averaging 29 points per game. Rahming was inducted into the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame in March 2024.

In 2022, Rahming earned the distinction of being the first woman and first African-American coach in Palm Beach County history to reach 500 victories.

“It’s just a special moment and I’ll remember it forever,” Rahming said.
