There are also three new cars to drive, and they come from three different decades of motoring.
The 2018 BMW M2 Competition is the newest addition to this group. This model is the generation before the current model. It features a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine developing 405 horsepower (302 kilowatts) and 406 pound-feet (551 Newton-meters) of torque. According to factory specifications, the coupe with a six-speed manual transmission reaches 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 4.2 seconds. The seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox cuts the time to 4.0 seconds. The electronically limited top speed is 155 mph (249 km/h) but can reach 174 mph (280 km/h) with the optional M Driver’s Pack.
For comparison, the current M2 also has a twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight-six engine, but it develops 453 hp (333 kW) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm). The coupe hustles to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds with the manual or 3.9 seconds with the eight-speed automatic.
Another new car for Gran Turismo 7 is the 1996 Nissan Silvia K’s Aero. The Silvia received a styling refresh in 1996 which gave the end of the hood a more rounded shape and tweaked the headlights to match the new look. The K’s model used a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder developing 217 hp (162 kW) to turn the rear wheels.
If you prefer the previous look for this generation of Silvia, then check out Gran Turismo 7The September update. It included a 1994 Silvia K’s Type S.
Finally, a 1987 Ford Sierra RS 500 Cosworth joined Gran Turismo 7 in the November update. This model was a hotter version of the already spicy Sierra RS Cosworth. Changes included things like a bigger turbo and an intercooler. In road trim, the engine developed 224 hp (167 kW).
This year marks a quarter century since Gran Turismo launched on the original PlayStation in 1997 in Japan. To commemorate this milestone, the in-game 2019 Red Bull X receives a special edition 25th Anniversary livery with a purple, blue, red and white paint scheme.
It’s a small change, but there are two new places to take pictures of your cars in Gran Turismo’s Scapes mode. Illuminations is located in the central square of Shinko in Yokohama, Japan. It consists of lots of lights and the framework of a geodesic dome. Road Atlanta is the other new location, so players can land vehicles there in addition to racing around the course.
