Ahead of the new Pixel phones, the October 13 Android update is rolling out with nine fixes.
After just five patches last month, this second update features nine improvements to audio, connectivity, user interface, and Wi-Fi.
The bulk of this month’s fixes relate to Android 13’s UI, including widget compatibility issues and empty quick settings tiles. There is also a fix for no app icon to appear in media player for some apps, as well as fix for device crash when playing audio from local storage.
Use the following device key to interpret the Android 13 changelog:

(This only applies to the first issue under Audio, with everything else in the October update benefiting all Android 13 Pixel devices.)
audio
- Fixed an issue causing occasional audible hum or sound artifacts during calls when using wired headsets*[1]
- Fixed an issue preventing device volume controls in media player notification from working under certain conditions
Connectivity
- Fixed an issue causing the launcher to crash when connecting to VPN under certain conditions
User interface
- Fixed an issue causing compatibility issues with some app widgets in Android 13
- Fixed an issue that caused the media player to show the default icon for some media apps
- Fixed an issue causing the device to occasionally crash when playing audio from local storage
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused empty quick settings tiles to appear in the notification shade
- Fixed an issue causing the work profile toggle button to sometimes appear truncated in the app drawer
Wireless
- Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented available Wi-Fi networks from displaying in the network selection menu in some apps
