Many Android users have been bothered by a Google Assistant since last year which reads WhatsApp messages in poor Dutch. This issue was eventually fixed with an update.
Google Assistant without English accent
Reading incoming texts in the car is a boon if you need to keep your eyes on the road. This is one of the advantages of the Google Assistant in Android Auto. Unfortunately, Google’s smart companion has had problems with Dutch pronunciation since August last year. The assistant tries to read the messages with an English accent and it looks like a strong example of poor Dutch.
Google arrived at the beginning of this year with a solution but it was in our opinion insufficient. It was necessary to adapt the language of the Android phone to the language of the assistant. Therefore, it is no longer possible to use the multilingual assistant. Fortunately, this detour is no longer necessary because version 6.1.6105 of Android Auto solves the whole problem, according to Mark, reader of Androidworld. We also tried it in the editorial staff and it’s ok, Google Assistant repeats WhatsApp messages in correct Dutch.

WhatsApp is the incredibly popular chat service available for Android, but also for other platforms such as iOS. With this app you can send messages.
Thanks for the tip, Mark!
