Golden Apple: Lauren Zamperini – YourErie

When you have eight or nine teachers in your family, chances are teaching will be part of your future as well. You stand out by winning a Golden Apple Award.

Lou Baxter says that’s exactly what a Wattsburg teacher did.

Lauren Zamperini is a third grade teacher at Wattsburg Area Elementary Center.

She has been teaching for nine years and comes from a family of educators.

Although the teaching profession is in her DNA, her passion is to help children grow and learn, especially the rambunctious and sassy ones.

“I know how I was as a student, I was very rowdy and moved around a lot. I feel like these kids need someone who can be okay with that too,” he said. said Golden Apple winner Lauren Zamperini.

This week’s student nominator says that Zamperini is “very funny, kind and affectionate with all the students.” And she says “once you are my child, you are always my child.”

“Children won’t learn if they don’t like their teachers. So they need to feel heard, they need to feel appreciated and they want to be here. If they want to be here, I want to be here. No one wants to go to work grumpy. So the better you can make them feel, the better I feel,” Zamperini said.

Honoring her teacher with a golden apple was a moving experience for student nominee Julia Jewell.

“Kind of tears of joy today, huh?” So tell me why is it so happy for you? »

“Because she’s one of my favorite teachers…so much fun,” said student contestant Julia Jewell.

“Once you are my child, you are always my child. I just thought to myself, no matter what age we all want to belong and we all want to be special to someone,” said Dr. Mary Jo Melvin, of PennWest University.

Congratulations to Miss Lauren Zamparini, winner of this week’s JET 24 PennWest University Golden Apple Award.
