Silver also plunged from Rs 110 to Rs 70,274 per kg, against Rs 70,384 per kg in the previous exchange.
HDFC Securities Senior (Commodities) Analyst Tapan Patel said: “Delhi 24-karat spot gold prices fell by 259 rupees, reflecting the drop in COMEX gold prices ( New York-based commodities exchange).
In the international market, gold was trading lower at $ 1,880 per ounce and silver was stable at $ 27.65 per ounce.
Gold prices traded lower with a firm dollar, he added.
Vice President (Commodity Research) Navneet Damani said: “Gold prices have fallen slightly after being flat in recent trading sessions, weighed down by a stronger dollar. ”
He added that investors remained on the sidelines awaiting clearer signals on inflation levels and economic growth ahead of US data and the European Central Bank meeting later in the day.
