Needless to say, SUVs and crossovers have taken over the auto industry. If people buy these tall motorcycles rather than compact and low machines, so be it. It’s a business decision, and it’s understandable.
But that doesn’t mean people (like me) are on the SUV bandwagon. There is still a market for cars – especially beautiful ones – and we’re delighted to know that GM is still thinking of the minority when it comes to lineup.
Concrete example, this little hatchback rendering published by General Motors design on his official Instagram profile. See the article embedded below:
As you can see, the Chevrolet sedan above does not represent any Bow Tie vehicles existing in the lineup these days. However, we have to say that it matches the current styling of Chevy crossovers like the Blazer and Trailblazer – more on the former with the distinct wheel design.
Could this be a future small car from the automaker? We can’t say, but what we do know is that the sketch, despite its unreal proportions, will likely result in a stunning, low-slung sedan if it ever goes into production.
The render above was created by Brian Malczewski and based on the signature in the image, it could be an old sketch made in 2014. This is just speculation on our part, however.
By the way, Malczewski is the lead exterior designer at GM. He’s the one responsible for the design of the GMC Hummer EV pickup and SUV, so if you’re having trouble with both, you know who to contact.
All kidding aside, I hope this sedan does make it into production one day, although that seems like a pipe dream at this point. But who knows, maybe a future Chevy EV will sport this design, as represented by a hashtag used on the Instagram post above.
