Glastonbury is in the books – now is the time to get excited for 2023 with rumors already swirling for next year’s queues.
Yes, people have just returned from Worthy Farm after the festival’s triumphant post-pandemic return, but it’s just even more excited for the 2023 extravaganza.
Sir Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish left bettors stunned with powerful headlining performances over a weekend stacked with an incredible lineup.
Organizer Michael Eavis previously revealed that the team had already planned the 2023 and 2024 headliners, as he told BBC Sounds’ Andy Bennett: “We have all the headliners for both next few years… they’re all in place.”
That said, there’s a lot of speculation as to what they have planned with big names potentially in the picture.
Here are some of the biggest names who lied at Glastonbury – and others who we think have a chance!
The Spice Girls
What fans really, really want is a reunion of the Spice Girls at Glastonbury, and Mel C recently admitted it was “the absolute dream”.
“The girls and I discussed it, it’s the biggest stage in the world, we have the best festival in the world here,” she told BBC Breakfast, noting that even Victoria Beckham might be tempted afterwards. having skipped their 2019 tour.
She teased: ‘I have a good feeling [she would].’
Beyonce
It’s been 11 years since Beyonce, who was pregnant with Blue Ivy at the time, took to the Pyramid Stage for an iconic headline set.
More than a decade later, it feels like a comeback should be on the cards – especially after Queen Bey announced her first album in six years and released an instant classic in Break My Soul.
She hasn’t teased any tour dates yet, but they’re surely on the way. See you at Worthy Farm?
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift was originally set to headline alongside Sir Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar in 2020, but the pandemic has forced the festival to be delayed for two years.
The Bad Blood hitmaker hasn’t joined the other two musicians on this year’s lineup, with Billie Eilish entering the fold – so perhaps 2023 could be his time?
It was previously reported that Taylor dropped out of this year’s event due to “timing”, despite her reportedly current focus on re-recording her old albums rather than performing.
A direction
One Direction haven’t played a show together since their hiatus in 2015 and they’re all thriving in their solo careers – just look at Harry Styles – but Glastonbury 2023 could be the perfect stage for a reunion.
Liam Payne recently clarified that he expected the group – completed by Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, as Zayn Malik quit a few months before the split – to get back together one day, and Ladbrokes gave a 1D rating from 3/1 to play next year.
Niall has previously suggested the band aren’t “cool” enough to headline Glastonbury, but we respectively disagree.
Mr Elton John
Sir Elton John would be perfect for the festival after Beatles legend Sir Paul rolled back time with a fantastic title.
The Rocket Man icon has just brought his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour to London with a special show at BTS Hyde Park, and he’ll be touring the UK – including nine dates at The O2 – from spring to early summer 2023.
However, the dates end in mid-June, meaning Glastonbury could be a possibility.
Bruce Springsteen
Bruce Springsteen is another legendary musician with a suspicious gap in his touring schedule.
The Born To Run rock star has yet to announce any UK dates when he and the E Street Band hit the road next year, and some fans are wondering if he has anything special planned.
While touring Europe in June, he has a few free dates on June 25 and 27, which could coincide with Glastonbury next year.
Time will tell, and the Boss might just wait to reveal some major UK dates, but to see him headline a year after joining Sir Paul during his set would be special.
