If you currently practice social distance but don’t know what to do with your time, Gigi Hadid has some ideas. The mannequin is on the cover of Harper’s BazaarFrom the April issue, and all of her favorite hobbies that she talks about in the interview are things you could practice while quarantining yourself.
Gigi’s famous friends, including Taylor Swift and Kendall Jenner, interviewed her for the magazine and Kendall asked her boyfriend about life on the farm. Gigi shared that her family’s Pennsylvania farm helps her enjoy simple pleasures. “It allowed me to fill my days off with the little things that make me happy, like art, gardening, yoga, cooking, being outside and spending time with loved ones and animals without having to worrying about things like what I’m wearing or what my hair looks like, or being photographed or seen that day, ”shared the model.
While there, Gigi revealed that she also had a surprising hobby: building chairs. (Yes, you read that right.) “I find it fun to try something new and see if I can make it happen. It is liberating to simply create without the end goal being necessary to finish. The idea for the chair was born from that, ”she explained to Blake Lively. “I wanted to see if I could first build a wooden frame, then pour resin in it and make a transparent chair. I built the wooden part, then in the next step, I learned that you can only dry the resin in small layers, and the more layers I added, the clearer it was that I didn’t made my frame waterproof enough. Miserable failure. I ended up giving up the big one and made a small version, which worked much better! ” Is there whatever Gigi can not do?
Gigi’s farm seems to be a place of inspiration and relaxation. Gigi’s friend, Off-White designer Virgil Abloh, raised the stakes with his question. “Suppose you organize a craft festival on your farm: (a) What activities are on the festival program? And (b) for snacks, what eight items does the cheese platter for the guests include?”
Gigi has her answer, and if this proverbial festival were to actually take place, we would be there in a second. She replied that she would organize everything from decorating cakes and making bouquets to poetry workshops and the art of Rice Krispies, in addition to ceramics. It sounds like a perfect event, and Gigi, please make it a real thing once it is sure to meet again in large groups.
As for this plate of cheeses, Gigi covered us for one night with his recommendation. Its dissemination includes a “French baguette; Dutch Gouda; Prairie Breeze Cheddar; Brie; truffle honey, quince paste or fig spread; tomato-mozzarella-basil skewers; meat with cheese (I would ask a cheese specialist in a store – my favorite is Murray’s Cheese in New York); and Castelvetrano olives. “
Although building full chairs can be a bit difficult in small apartments or bedrooms, Gigi’s hobbies offer us great ways to spend this time creatively. And coincidentally, Taylor Swift asked Gigi about her ability to “fly into action” during stressful situations. His answer?
“I have realized over time that I feel freer when I express myself, whether through action, writing or speaking,” she said. Harper’s Bazaar. “Being honest always leads to something good, even if it takes a difficult or awkward moment or conversation to get there; you can never go wrong by telling someone how you feel and telling your truth. And you always learn something from it. “
