EuroBasket 2022 is almost here and is set to kick off on Thursday, September 1.

The international tournament will provide NBA fans around the world with the basketball fix they’ve been looking for as we inch closer to the start of the 2022-23 season.

There will be plenty of superstar talent on display with the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic adapting to their country setting the stage for marquee clashes you won’t want to miss.

With a talent pool far larger than the three MVP candidates above, which other NBA stars will represent their home country on the EuroBasket stage?

NBA stars play at EuroBasket 2022

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Greece

Antetokounmpo wasted no time in making headlines ahead of EuroBasket 2022, going for 40(!) points in Europe’s Fiba World Cup qualifier in Greece against Jokic and Serbia.

Although his efforts ended in defeat, Antetokounmpo became the first player in European Qualifiers history to break the 40-point mark, giving us a taste of what to expect when EuroBasket kicks off .

Antetokounmpo and Greece will face off in Group C, joined by Estonia, Ukraine, Great Britain, Italy and Croatia. If you want to watch the 2021 Finals MVP in action, you can find Greece’s group stage schedule below.

Luka Doncic, Slovenia

The last time we saw Doncic on the international stage, he nearly carried Slovenia to their first-ever basketball medal when he led his country to the bronze medal game at the Tokyo Olympics.

Now we’ll see the 23-year-old try to lead Slovenia to a EuroBasket title against some of the best talent in the world.

Doncic looked like himself ahead of EuroBasket, almost going for a triple-double against Estonia last week.

His country will compete in a packed Group B with teams like Germany, Lithuania, France, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary.

Nikola Jokic, Serbia

Antetokounmpo may have grabbed the headlines for the 40 points he scored against Serbia, but Jokic was equally incredible, leading his country to victory.

The reigning NBA MVP left for 29 points, eight rebounds and six assists, toppling some Clutch pulls on the stretch to force overtime. His patented “Sombor Shuffle” over Antetokounmpo late in the fourth quarter was just one of many big marks Jokic had to keep his team fighting.

Jokic and Serbia will compete in Group D along with the Netherlands, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic and Israel. You can find their group stage schedule below.

Rudy Gobert, France

Gobert and France are looking to build on their momentum after winning a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, entering EuroBasket as one of the tournament’s top teams.

The All-Star big man may not display the garish numbers we see from players like Antetokounmpo, Doncic or Jokic, but his presence in the paint dominates, as he records double-doubles in his sleep, just like us. see it on the NBA Stadium.

Gobert made it easy against the Czech Republic in a European World Cup qualifier leading to EuroBasket, tallying 14 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and a broken hoop from a powerful return dunk in a 35-point victory for France.

Gobert and France will face Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, Lithuania and Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group B.

Domantas Sabonis and Jonas Valanciunas, Lithuania

Other countries will struggle to contain Lithuania’s terrorizing forecourt of Sabonis and Valanciunas.

Both NBA stars are both lethal and physical, yet highly skilled. As dominant as they are on the inside, controlling the glass and scoring with their backs to the basket, they can also come out and shoot the 3-ball.

The tandem makes Lithuania one of the most difficult teams to face, as few countries have the size to defend both brute forces.

Sabonis, Valanciunas and Lithuania will face off in Group B against Germany, France, Slovenia, Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina – a group loaded with NBA talent.
