Gervonta Davis responds to claim Floyd Mayweather is ‘held hostage in Dubai’ as feud resumes

Gervonta Davis and Floyd Mayweather are feuding again.

For much of his career thus far, Davis has been Floyd’s protégé and fought under his Mayweather Promotions banner.

However, they had a rocky relationship after Davis became world champion for the first time in 2017.

As a result, in late 2022, Davis parted ways with Mayweather Promotions and went his own way under current advisor Al Haymon.

There were times in the five years before their split when Davis and Mayweather appeared side by side and presented a united front.

But there were also times when the two men were clearly at odds, taking not-so-subtle jabs at each other via media or online.

Even last year, while training for the Ryan Garcia fight, Davis accused Mayweather of kicking him out of his gym and preventing him from training properly.

When the fight took place on its own, Mayweather was back to support Davis and celebrated the victory with him.

Now they seem to be arguing again.

On Friday morning, Davis took to social media to share a video of Mayweather that he said was aimed at him.

In the clip, Mayweather said: “A lot of times what these fighters look at – they look at Floyd with the cars, they see Floyd being flashy.

“Man, look, I’ve sacrificed so much. You all look at the end results.

“And [when I was] champion with hundreds of millions in the bank, I was still at my job in that gym.

“You all worry about your outfits, how your boots look, you worry about the wrong things. A lot of you fighters are living paycheck to paycheck.”

Davis, adamant Mayweather’s comments concerned him, fired back on Instagram: “N***a said all that bulls***, but [he’s] in Dubai and can’t leave because he took niggas money and don’t do what they paid him to do. N***aaf***ing hater. »

On Twitter, a fan told Davis: “Let me find out Floyd is being held hostage in Dubai.”

To which Davis replied, “He needs to pay people that money back. If I’m lying, tell him to go live right now. He’s been stuck there for a minute too.”

Friday evening, the quarrel exploded on social networks.

Mayweather retaliated by posting mocking videos of Davis dancing in an attempt to humiliate him.

Davis then threatened to knock out Mayweather and said: “Now I’ll fuck and knock out Floyd when I see him and I’ll worry about going back to jail. She’s such a bitch.”

In response, Mayweather posted a video of Tank’s rival Shakur Stevenson calling him out.

The bitter feud shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
