Following his high-profile split from Shakira, Gerard Pique made his romance with Clara Chia Marti official on Instagram. On January 25, the 35-year-old former footballer shared an uncaptioned photo of himself with his 23-year-old girlfriend, marking the first time he’s posted it on his social media.
Shakira and Pique announced their separation after 11 years together in June 2022. In a joint statement to People, the former couple said, “We regret to confirm that we are separating. We request confidentiality at this time for the well-being of our children, who are our top priority. Thank you in advance for your understanding and respect.” Shakira and Pique share two children: Milan Piqué Mebarak, 10, and Sasha Piqué Mebarak, 7.
In September 2022, Shakira explained to Elle how the dissolution of her marriage had affected her. “I stayed quiet and just tried to take it all in,” the Colombian singer said. “Uh, and yeah, it’s hard to talk about it, mostly because I’m still going through it, and because I’m in the public eye and because our separation isn’t like a regular separation.
