That’s not to say that St-Pierre wasn’t close to that knockout storybook. He nearly got Shields with a kick to the head in the fourth round of the bout. The best part is, St-Pierre didn’t think the kick would find its mark. He was throwing it just to measure the distance.

“I remember at one point I kicked Jake Shields in the head, but when I kicked that kick it was more of a fake. I threw the kick out like a kind of measuring kick. So I hit Jake Shields on the temple, and he fell and I didn’t put enough force on it because I didn’t think it would hit the target; I thought it would adjust to help me measure my distance, ”recalls St-Pierre. “But when I think back to that streak I think to myself, man, I should have put more force into that kick and maybe I would have had my knockout.” Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to.
It might not have gone perfectly, but fans at the Rogers Center really enjoyed the show and were treated to an incredible event.
