“Give him some credit, George Santos has done a valuable public service”
The Independentby Richard Hall writes:
Kevin McCarthy was faced with a choice: He could listen to the Republicans who live and work in the district Santos now represents and remove the impostor from the United States Congress – weakening himself further in the process – or he could completely ignore the issue.
In choosing the latter, McCarthy reaffirmed how far he is willing to go to maintain his tenuous hold on his party. It tells us something about the state of the Republican Party, and perhaps of Congress, that a crook might be allowed to sit in the most powerful legislative body in the world, to vote on matters of life and death and war, in the interest of serving a party.
