In case you missed it, over the past five weeks our lovely Global Citizen social media team has been cooking up some tricky questions for you on our Instagram ahead of this year’s Global Citizen Festival. Everything is in preparation for the Global Citizen Festival 2022, which will take place on September 24 in New York and, for the very first time, in Accra, Ghana.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Global Citizen bringing artists and activists together on the Central Park stage. During these 10 years, we have lived through some truly memorable moments.
From incredible commitments to our mission to end poverty to iconic performances from a host of talented changemakers, it’s been quite a scenic journey to get here, and we’re so grateful that you came on the journey.
But just as the show must go on, so must the work. The 2022 Global Citizen Festival will be a night of celebration but also an opportunity to send a message to world leaders to act NOW to end extreme poverty.
This year’s festival takes place in the middle of the United Nations General Assembly in September, and the G20 Summit and COP27 in November. We call on world leaders to step up and invest $600 million in the future of women and girls, close the $10 billion annual climate finance gap, provide $500 million to help African farmers to respond to the global food crisis and to provide emergency aid. crippling debts.
