The cardigan may be gone, but Gareth Southgate is hoping his new look can inspire his English stars again this summer.
With Southgate donning his now infamous vest on the sideline, England reached the World Cup semi-finals in 2018.
The Three Lions will now be looking to make a good recovery at the European Championship and Southgate has a new set set to appear on the bigger stage.
Gone are the days when Southgate’s most memorable outfit was a paper bag stuck to her head.
Now he’s sort of a fashionista and fans just might go wild for his choice to clob this summer.
What is Gareth Southgate’s new costume?
Southgate has gone for a more simplistic vibe for Euro 2020 but with a modern twist to things.
The man England fans are hoping to bring home football will be draped in a light gray suit and a navy polo shirt.
The light gray color is a break from a manager’s standard on the sideline while the polo shirt looks something like pajamas.
Indeed, he will wear a Pablo Cuban Knit shirt from the brand Percival, of which he is the ambassador.
Fans who want to replicate the hottest summer look will have to shell out £ 109 for the polo shirt.
Why was Gareth Southgate wearing a waistcoat?
The Southgate squad certainly watched the game at the World Cup in 2018 and the dapper boss wasn’t hurting either.
He turned heads on the sideline and ignited social media while sparking a surge in vest sales after rocking the look in Russia.
The England boss kept his sons smart despite 30-degree heat in the group stage victory over Panama – and it looks like his fans at home haven’t been fazed either.
Marks and Spencer reported a 35% increase in waistcoat sales and the reason for Southgate’s pristine appearance is believed to be due to her grandfather, Arthur Toll.
The former Royal Marine was a waistcoat lover who was always very proud of the way he dressed – and so was his grandson.
Southgate revealed ahead of the World Cup: “My family is incredibly patriotic, my grandfather was a Marine.
“I was always raised with England at the heart of what we stood for and of my life.”
But the look didn’t come cheap, with the full set weighing in at £ 264 – and the vest itself cost £ 65.
