Galaxy S22 series gets another Android 13 beta update

Samsung has released the fourth beta version of One UI 5.0 based on Android 13 for the Galaxy S22 series. The update is rolling out with firmware version ending ZVJ2. The official changelog provided by the company mentions fixes for several bugs discovered in previous betas. There are still a few known issues, however.

For starters, the latest One UI 5.0 beta update fixes the bug that caused sleep mode to activate on its own. Samsung has also fixed an issue where the phone vibrates or produces a continuous beeping sound with no apparent trigger. Issues with item eraser and vibration feedback not working when performing the welcome gesture have also been fixed.

Samsung’s changelog further mentions a fix for the animation issue that caused images to break when accessing the home screen from widgets (Going through). The company has also removed the multi-user feature, while favorites and recent gallery items get performance improvements. The latest version also fixes bugs that caused the phone to hang when opening the app folder, changing wallpapers, or using S Pen air controls. Of course, the latter only applies to phones that support the S Pen, like the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

As for known issues, Samsung says it is aware of the black screen issue with DeX. The monitor turns black if you turn off the phone screen in DeX mode. The company has also identified an issue with files received via QuickShare. Although files are received normally, you cannot open them directly from the receive pop-up window. You get an error message saying “Unable to open file”. Finally, this One UI 5.0 beta contains a bug that results in a force close error when using filters in the newly added lock screen wallpaper interface.

Samsung may soon release stable Android 13 update for Galaxy smartphones

Samsung has yet to reveal when it plans to roll out the stable Android 13 update. But the update might not be too far away now. The company is quickly getting rid of bugs that its developers and users have discovered during beta testing. This could very well be the last beta, with the stable update arriving later this month. The Galaxy S22 series will get the update first, with the likes of Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 soon to follow. We will let you know when these updates are made public.
