Now a senior at Campbell University, Hanna still has eligibility to make two runs at an accomplishment he never heard of half a decade ago, and he can’t help but think he would be. already there if he started to struggle when all of his teammates did.
“At this point, I became a student of sports,” laughed Hanna. “I still don’t know the old wrestlers, but right now, with everything going on in wrestling, I’m kind of an expert in the sport. Right now, my teammates will be talking about their favorite idols and wrestlers they grew up watching and I’m like, “I didn’t even know that was a thing when I was a kid.”
Hanna is living proof that with enough hard work, anything is possible, but even he finds it hard to express how close to impossible his accomplishments have been in a sport where athletes learn to tie wrestling shoes. before removing the training wheels from their Bicycle.

He doesn’t have much more time in the sport, but he has improved by leaps and bounds in just two years.
“I did it, so it’s hard for me to say it’s something impossible, but it’s almost impossible,” Hanna said. “I know kids who have struggled all their lives and haven’t made it as far as I have. I really worked a lot. Like a lot of work. Even now, I’m doing extra work because I have a lot of catching up to do. I have six years under my belt and struggle at one of the hardest levels to get to, so I still have some work to do.
When Hanna finishes his career on the mat, he plans to explore the world of MMA, and if he starts fighting as fast as he literally has everything else, beware the lightweights.
