It was a wink-type weekend and you will miss it, full of missed penalties, late winners and the latest chapter in Tottenham’s demise.
And with piles of action on the pitch, the reactions have been equally dramatic. Here is our pick of the best of social media.
AUBA CANALING HENRY
There was serious nostalgia in the Emirates as Arsenal beat north London rival Tottenham.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the Gunners’ second goal and celebrated his strike by sliding to his knees in front of Tottenham fans. Seems familiar?
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry did the same after making his way through the Spurs midfielder and then his defense in November 2002.
And what better way for the captain to re-enact the celebration than to have the Arsenal legend himself beaming with joy in the stands!
Henry was seen alongside Spotify founder Daniel Ek, a die-hard gunner who has previously been linked with buying the club.
BRUNO IS (VERY) APOLOGETIC
Until Saturday, Bruno Fernandes was the king of the Spot Kick. Mr Penalties 2021. Unstoppable from 12 yards.
But it ended abruptly when he crushed his effort over the crossbar.
Feeling frustrated with the outcome, Fernandes took to social media to apologize to his fans. At 254 words, it sounded more like an official statement than a simple apology.
“No one is more frustrated and disappointed than I am for missing the penalty and the resulting loss.
“I have always lived up to my responsibilities and have always embraced them under pressure at times like this.
Today I failed. But I took a step forward and took on the challenge with the same ambition and responsibility as when on many other occasions the ball found its way into the net.
Bruno added: “Thank you for all your support after the final whistle!
Cristiano Ronaldo also showed his support by simply posting a ‘punch’ emoji as a comment on Fernandes’ post.
THE KING OF EGYPT IS COMING IN THE CENTURY!
Mohamed Salah set a new record for Liverpool with his 100th Premier League goal in the six-goal thriller with Brentford.
The Egyptian master has achieved a century of top-level goals for Liverpool in just 152 appearances. The fastest of ALL red players in Prem history.
The strike also scored Salah’s 131st goal for the Reds in 210 appearances in all competitions, placing him well in 10th place in the club’s all-time top scorers chart.
JIMENEZ IS BACK!
After the horrific head injury in November last year, Raul Jimenez scored his first Premier League goal in 11 months.
The Mexico international earned Wolves their second top-tier success of the campaign with an excellent effort in the 1-0 victory at Southampton.
Fans were delighted to see their precious striker return in action:
KYLIAN MBAPPE… ABSOLUTE SMOKE
In Ligue 1, PSG striker Kylian Mbappe was filmed ranting against his teammate Neymar Jr moments after being substituted in the later stages.
Despite PSG’s 2-0 victory over Montpellier, the 22-year-old did not hide his annoyance when he was seen saying to Idrissa Gueye: “He does not pass me”.
Neymar’s claims not giving Mbappe the type of pass that led to Draxler’s goal with two minutes remaining will be a growing problem in the locker room. Trouble in paradise?
