the friends the meeting is still in the development stage, Page Six reported this week. As most know, the date of friends the meeting has already been postponed to another year due to the coronavirus pandemic, and now the network has encountered yet another problem.
Previously, Ellen DeGeneres was supposed to host the reunion, but the TV mainstay has been called out for supposedly creating an environment of toxicity and abuse.
DeGeneres has made headlines in recent months after dozens of its employees and former staff called out executive producers, as well as Ellen herself, for fostering a horrific work environment.
During an episode of Andy Cohen’s radio show on SiriusXM, Andy Cohen Live, Cohen asked Lisa Kudrow if there was a host for this. He asked, “Did I hear that Ellen DeGeneres was hosting the meeting?”
You can check out part of that interview below:
The 57-year-old told the host of the TV show she didn’t know what was going on with the animation duties because she didn’t even think it had been decided yet.
As previously reported, Ellen, 62, was given the role of host for the scheduled reunion, a job in which she would conduct interviews with all of the cast members including David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc. , Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Kudrow.
But due to the allegations against her, it’s currently unclear whether she will take on the job after all. A Twitter thread in May gained popularity in which it was argued that Ellen was incredibly mean to people in real life.
And then, in July, senior staff members were accused of abusing some employees. Three of them were made redundant in August. Additionally, Mariah Carey stepped forward to say she felt pressured to drink champagne to prove she wasn’t pregnant during a 2008 appearance on the show.
Regardless, it has been reported that Ellen plans to respond to the complaints against her when her show returns to air on September 21. It’s an episode that fans surely won’t want to miss.
