Freddie Flintoff was airlifted to hospital following a car accident while filming Top Gear in Surrey on Monday.
The England cricketing legend was filming an episode of the BBC series at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome before the crash.
He was injured as cameras rolled to capture his take on the car for the show’s review segment.
It is understood that the 45-year-old’s injuries are not life threatening.
A source told The Sun: “Freddie is in hospital after crashing on Top Gear.
“He was riding the track as usual. He wasn’t going at high speed, it was just an accident that could happen to anyone.
“All the usual health and safety measures were also in place for the shoot.
“Freddie was taken to hospital by air ambulance shortly thereafter.
“His injuries are not life-threatening and he is receiving treatment.
“Filming has been postponed for now and everyone is worried about Freddie’s recovery.”
Meanwhile, a BBC spokesperson confirmed the host was injured in the crash and was taken to hospital for further treatment.
Flintoff was behind the wheel filming when the incident happened, prompting medics on site near Cranleigh to come to his aid.
Co-star Chris Harris, who presents the show alongside Flintoff and Paddy McGuiness, was also on the test track.
