Neighbors star Miranda Fryer dies aged 34: former actress who played Sky Mangel “fell asleep and never woke up”, devastated family say
Former Australian actress Miranda Fryer tragically passed away at just 34 years old.
She died in her sleep Thursday at her home in Glen Iris, Melbourne, her family confirmed to TV Tonight.
No cause of death has been revealed, but she is believed to have had “heart problems”.
Miranda, who trained as a nurse after retiring from show business, appeared on the longtime soap opera Neighbors as Sky Mangel as a child.

Sky was the on-screen daughter of couple Joe Mangel and Kerry Bishop, played by actors Mark Little and Linda Hartley-Clark, respectively.
Miranda was on the popular Australian show for three years, from 1989 to 1991.
She made her debut in Neighbors when she was just 18 months old and was the first child actor engaged in the series.

Miranda never pursued an acting career after her stint in Neighbors.
She recently obtained a nursing degree from Monash University in Melbourne during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Miranda was subsequently offered a postgraduate position at Monash Hospital in the Department of Neuroscience and was considering a Masters in this area as well.
She married her fiance Arthur Pothitis in November 2020 in a beachside ceremony in Aspendale, Melbourne.

Her family said in a statement: “True soul mates, Miranda and Arthur were planning on starting their family, when one day last week she fell asleep and never woke up. We don’t know why.
“She had had health problems with her heart. Maybe her beautiful personality was just too good for our world. We, who all loved her so much, will cherish the memories she left with us and mourn our loss forever.
“A beautiful child, a breathtaking teenager, beautiful inside and out… a woman, with so much love and happiness given and received. So many friends, so much more to offer this world, gone.
Miranda’s family are awaiting the coroner’s report.
