Michael Jordan made Kwame Brown the No.1 pick in the 2002 NBA Draft out of high school when the legendary player ran the Washington Wizards organization.
Brown fell short of the selection and quickly became a journeyman striker who played for seven teams between 2001 and 2013. Over the past week, Brown had been in the midst of controversy after the former Wizards star Gilbert Arenas delved into him in a recent podcast interview.

Arenas said on the “All The Smoke” podcast hosted by Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson that Brown was a “show pony” and being picked by Jordan didn’t really help his confidence.
“Imagine you are an 18 year old kid being drafted # 1 by your idol and your idol is Michael Jordan … we know the personality of Michael Jordan. Imagine this personality heading towards an 18 year old. , which only intimidates him, ”Arenas said of Brown.
“When you do [Brown] hardly looks at his peers, he loses his confidence So when I get there, he doesn’t trust it. So he’s trying to build this man-child… I call him a show pony, he’s a show horse. “
Arenas added that Brown could have been an Anthony Davis type player.

Brown responded in an hour-long video posted to his YouTube channel. He replied to the three former players.
“I think you have to focus and channel that energy into other real issues,” Brown said. “And Stephen Jackson, maybe you can put that mother – the blunt king and pull your pants up on you, and put that rag on and act like a grown man instead of a little-a-boy.”
He also described Barnes as “beautiful haired Becky” who needed guidance and Arenas as being out of touch with her darkness. He said that Arenas was the “whitest black boy I have ever known”.
Barnes appeared on ESPN and reacted to Brown’s remarks.
“I understand where he’s coming from. He was kind of the butt of jokes coming into the league and not being able to live up to the potential of No.1,” he said. “I guess some things were said on the podcast … I didn’t say or do anything. If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at MJ for writing your number one.”
