LAKE PARK, Fla – A former top Florida State University player and former NFL wide receiver was arrested Wednesday morning for first degree murder and attempted first degree murder, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported .
Travis Rudolph, 25, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail shortly before 8 a.m. and being held without bail. He is due to make his first appearance before a judge on Thursday at the prison.
The PBSO did not immediately release the name of the deceased or injured person, or report the extent of that person’s injuries.
MPs responded shortly after midnight to reports of a double shooting on the 500 block of North Redwood Drive in Lake Park, south of Northlake Boulevard and western United States 1.
They learned that a man was taken to hospital while another man was found dead in West Palm Beach.
Further investigation led to the identification of Rudolph as a suspect, PBSO said. The agency said a total of four people were shot on or by Rudolph. Two of its planned targets were left untouched, PBSO said.
The agency did not provide a full account of what happened on Wednesday.
Rudolph signed with Florida State in 2014 as a five-star rookie. He has compiled over 2,300 career receiving yards and scored 18 touchdowns in three seasons with the Seminoles.
He played briefly in the NFL for the New York Giants and was a member of the Miami Dolphins training team for part of the 2018 season. He signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian League. football in December 2019, but did not participate in any matches.
On Wednesday, the organization announced that Rudolph had been released.
