Authorities in Florida are preparing to arrest a former Florida Department of Health data scientist on suspicion of illegally accessing a state-run messaging system used by emergency personnel.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement obtained an arrest warrant for Rebekah Jones, who denied any responsibility for any hacking and said authorities were targeting her for attempting to expose tampering with the data. ‘Status on Covid-19 infection.
Ms Jones said on Twitter on Saturday that she planned to go into custody on Sunday evening.
“To protect my family from continued police violence and to show that I am ready to fight anything they throw at me, I turn into police in Florida on Sunday night,” she wrote.
“FDLE has an active arrest warrant for Ms. Jones,” a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Sunday. “Our case remains active. Once she visits, we can provide you with the additional information you requested. “
