It can sometimes be hard to separate twins, and that’s something Simon Jordan recently discovered.
The former owner of Crystal Palace thought he was having a conversation with Frank de Boer but had a case of mistaken identity, as it turns out he was talking to his brother Ronald.
Frank was appointed Palace Manager in the summer of 2017, replacing Sam Allardyce.
However, the former Ajax and Barcelona star was sacked after just five matches at Selhurst Park.
While in Doha for the World Cup, Jordan was back to play paddle tennis with some of the game’s former stars, but soon found himself confused about one of the famous De Boer brothers with who he was talking about.
Jim White jokingly revealed on talkSPORT: “Interestingly, guys, I want you to know, Simon had a very interesting conversation with one of the De Boer twins.
“Simon thought it was Frank de Boer, and he was talking to Frank, as he thought, about his [five] games in charge of this unfortunate period at Crystal Palace.
“It turned out to be Ronald de Boer, who was very nice to him and didn’t mention he had the wrong identical twin!”
They both had very similar careers and the brothers have shared the pitch together 387 times during their spells at Ajax, Rangers, Barcelona and the Netherlands.
Ronald has delved a bit into management but hasn’t traveled as far as Frank on that front, so a difference can certainly be made between the two.
While it might just be a simple mistake by Jordan, the next time he meets half of the twins, he might want to verify their identities.
