Former Charlton boss Guy Luzon slapped one of his Israel Under-21 players in the face during a game.
Luzon, who had a managerial spell in English football with Championship side Charlton Athletic in 2015, started managing the Israeli development team earlier in 2022.
Israel faced Republic of Ireland Under-21s in the second leg of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-offs in Tel Aviv on Tuesday.
The Luzon team won the match 3-1 on penalties after the game ended 0-0 in regular time.
However, the former Addicks boss found himself in a heated exchange with one of his players, Ziv Morgan, before the final whistle.
Videos on social media show Luzon looking furious and as if trying on his left-back.
Then Luzon literally punched his player, slapping him in the face.
Morgan didn’t seem overly impressed with his manager’s reaction, but the pair continued their argument, with most implying that Luzon continued to yell in Morgan’s face.
Israeli fans were unhappy as the video made the rounds on social media, with one user writing: “Guy Luzon is a disgrace to Israeli football.”
During his time at The Valley, Luzon was far from a sweet character.
The Addicks scored a last-minute winner against Hull City in 2015 through now Burnley star Johann Berg Gudmundsson.
And Luzon sprinted theatrically from his technical area onto the pitch and pounced on his players who were grouped near the corner flag, before going wild with the crowd.
He was then returned to the stands by the referee.
