Former Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches was called in as a substitute in Germany’s 4-2 win over Portugal and almost helped the Portuguese move closer to Die Mannschaft in the second half.
Sanches provided a spark for Portugal, but ultimately couldn’t help stabilize the midfielder enough to take that advantage away from Toni Kroos and Germany. Frustrated, Sanches also showed some of the attitude he became famous for with Bayern Munich when he kicked the ball against the billboards late in the game.
All in all, it was a solid performance for the Lille midfielder, who wasn’t completely upset by his side’s loss.
“We had some good chances, but we lost. It’s a shame. We will play against France on Wednesday, ”Sanches said after the game (as captured by Tz). “We knew the group would be difficult. But we have it in our hands.
It will be interesting to see if Sanches did enough to carve out a place in the starting XI against France.
