Houston-based company Integrated Viral Protection developed this air purification system that claims to kill nearly 100% of airborne SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
“This is a brand new invention that focuses on the use of heat to target and kill, capture and then kill the coronavirus in the air by passing it through a heated HEPA system,” Dr. Garrett K. Peel, CEO of IVP, told me.
The heated filter works in conjunction with HVAC systems or a mobile device. Of course, there is a cost. This is where Wilcox comes in. He started a distribution company when the pandemic began to put personal protective equipment in the hands of underserved people.
“We want to achieve the necessary goals and a lot of these products won’t be able to see our community, so I’m just trying to raise awareness and come up with beneficial, FDA-approved products,” Wilcox said.

Every product Wilcox works with, including the IVP device, is well checked by a medical expert before Wilcox intervenes. Dr Louis Vaickus, who is Wilcox Distributions’ medical advisor and sits on the board of directors, is responsible for this task.
“One of the things we have to be sure of is that if we say it kills COVID or SARS-CoV-2, we have to be able to support that claim,” Vaickus said. “And we don’t want to mislead people. And it has been done.”
Wilcox hopes his efforts will help help communities get back to normal operations.
“I was able to review the product in depth and have some of my medical team review this product, and they were like, Chris, this is the way,” Wilcox said. “That’s what we need to get our children back and our communities back. Come back to church, go to family reunions, different things like that.”
After his college days in Maryland, Wilcox spent 13 seasons in the NBA pursuing philanthropy along the way.
“All my life, man, I felt like my job was to give back, you know,” Wilcox said. “My mother always told me that to get a blessing you have to be a blessing, and I’ve been living with that from day one.
He relies on this device to be an affordable blessing for all communities in need.
Wilcox said there is a lot of interest in this biodefense product and that he is working to get his hands on as many units as possible.
