Former AC Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi says Inter have been playing Italian style football in the Champions League this season, according to a report in Italian media today.
Speaking during an interview with The Gazzetta dello SportArrigo Sacchi has explained that Inter only need to beat Viktoria Plzen in their Champions League game to qualify for the Round of 16.
He suggested he doesn’t have 100 per cent confidence in the Nerazzurri to do so, but then spoke about the style they seem to be playing in this season.
“It is not an impossible task. Inter is a team that practices Italian football: solid defence, counterattacks and great confidence in individuals.
“The players have remarkable technical qualities and a lot of experience.
“The game is not always at European level, that is to say modern, but with Barça at the Camp Nou they have put in a great performance.
“Inter can also move forward and maybe exploit the great talents of the many champions they have in their squad.”
He then appeared to raise the level of optimism when asked if the semi-finals were a realistic goal for Inter in the Champions League this season.
He suggested that nothing is impossible in football and they will have built their belief with the win and the draw against Barcelona.
“Nothing is impossible, I believe that the two games with Barcelona, after a difficult period, can help to regain self-esteem. And then, when there is self-esteem, you can think of running towards glory.
