Well, this is an exciting way to start the work week. Ford plans to reveal the smallest of its new Bronco family in April, but apparently it makes a surprise appearance several weeks earlier thanks to a message on Broncosportforum.com
Three photos were posted by a member of the forum with the username. Scotty, showing Bronco Sport from the front, side and rear. Scotty professes not to “work for Ford” in the opening message, but the photos were clearly sent by someone with ties to the compact SUV. Since these photos are certainly not official, we cannot get confirmation of their authenticity, but based on spy photos and previously leaked photos, this absolutely looks like the real deal.
This iteration of Bronco will certainly arouse some interest, but it is not the version that the world is impatiently awaiting. The Bronco Sport is based on the Ford Escape, and although we don’t have specific information about its powertrain, expect it to offer the same configuration under its chiseled body.
In the meantime, the world anticipates the arrival of the “real” Bronco. It’s a whole new machine from scratch, with Ford targeting it squarely on the Jeep Wrangler. The patent applications almost confirm that it will have removable doors, a removable roof, and we know it will be available in two- and four-door configurations. As these leaked photos show, the Bronco Sport will be a conventional compact SUV with a significantly more robust style than the Escape.
Look for the two Broncos that will be officially revealed in the coming weeks.
