Florence Welch looks back on her collaboration with Taylor Swift.
The Florence + the Machine frontman and Swift co-wrote the song “Florida!!! ”, which appears on the pop superstar’s new double album, The Department of Tortured Poets. In an interview with British Voguepublished Thursday April 25), Welch returns to his collaboration with Swift.
“I almost didn’t think about the magnitude of the situation,” Welch told the publication. “There is a kind of greatness [Taylor Swift the phenomenon]and then there’s the Taylor that I spend time with in the studio, who is just the sweetest and most down to earth.
The Florence + the Machine singer said Swift came to her with “a concept and a story” for the song, which is “my favorite way to start writing songs.” She added: “We had such a fun time. And then when it came out, I was like, “Oh, shit! »
Swift previously explained the narrative that inspired “Florida!!! » during an interview with iHeartRadio.
“‘Florida!!!’ is a song that I wrote with Florence and the Machine, and I think I had this idea of what happens when your life doesn’t go your way, or your choices that you’ve made catch up with you,” said Swift.
She added that she is a fan of Data line and I noticed that “people commit these crimes, where do they immediately leave the city and go?” They are going to Florida.
THE Department of Tortured Poets is Swift’s eleventh studio album and her first release of new music since the 2022 Grammy Award Midnights. The 31-track double album also features a collaboration with Post Malone, as well as writing and production contributions from Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner.
Although The Department of Tortured Poets is Swift’s first album of new music since Midnightsshe regularly pumped her re-recording Taylor’s version albums in the meantime. Between the two aforementioned albums, Swift topped the Billboard 200 with both Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) And 1989 (Taylor version)the latter becoming the star’s record-breaking sixth album to debut with over a million pure sales in its first week.
