Stephanie Frappart, Neuza Back and Karen Diaz will become the first all-female team of referees for a men’s World Cup match as they were named to officiate the Costa Rica-Germany Group E match on Thursday, FIFA announced on Tuesday.
Frappart, the fourth official in last week’s Poland-Mexico Group C clash, will be the main referee as she takes another step after being the first woman to referee in a Cup qualifier men’s world championship in March and a Champions League match in 2020.
