A furious Canelo Alvarez went to confront Oscar De La Hoya, calling him a “fucking a**hole” during a fiery press conference.
On Wednesday night, Canelo reacted angrily to comments from De La Hoya, who represents his next opponent, Jaime Munguia, ahead of their Cinco de Mayo clash this weekend.

De la Hoya, who was in charge of Canelo’s career before their split, attacked his former star by claiming he made him who he is before referencing his past drug scandal.
He said: “Golden Boy Promotions built Canelo Alvarez, the company you fought for for decades has always had a name, and it’s mine, so give it some respect.
“Jaime always dared to be big. The circle has come full circle for him. At the age of 21, he volunteered to intervene against GGG and Canelo failed two drug tests.
“Jaime was not allowed to realize his dream in 2018, and on Saturday he will do it and be world champion.”
This prompted the 33-year-old to stand up and confront the Golden Boy leader, with security having to stand between the two former friends.
Canelo blasted De La Hoya in Spanish before taking his turn on the mic, tearing into the 11-time world champion.
“I said he was a f—ing a-hole,” Canelo exclaimed seething. “He tried to keep the attention on himself, not on Munguia.
“He steals his fighters, that’s what he does. Fucking p***y. Motherf***er.

“He’s angry because I left Golden Boy. I’m Golden Boy’s diamond. Golden Boy isn’t the same without me…
“I don’t give a damn about Oscar, but if he says something on my turf, I have to say something.”

Canelo is scheduled to defend his undisputed super middleweight titles against Munguia on May 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
This is the first time the Mexican superstar has faced one of De La Hoya’s fighters since his acrimonious split from Golden Boy Promotions in 2020.

De La Hoya had already stirred the pot before the press conference by insisting that Canelo’s time in the sun was over.
Speaking about Munguia, the 51-year-old said: “He’s ready right now. It is positioned at the moment. This is his moment. This could be the changing of the guard on Cinco de Mayo.
“It’s all about footwork because you got a guy [Canelo]who is 33, and you have a younger man [Munguia].
“So obviously his legs are fresher. He can take hits better, even though Canelo has a good chin.
“But when you have all that wear and tear under your belt, the armor tends to bend a little bit at that point.”
Although relatively unknown, Munguia earned his chance against Canelo with victories over Sergiy Derevyanchenko and John Ryder, while holding the WBO light middleweight title.
