Jake Paul has blasted Freddie Roach after the legendary trainer’s recent comments caused a stir in the boxing world.
Roach, who runs the famed Wild Card Gym in California, is best known for guiding the iconic career of Manny Pacquiao.
He also had a short stint coaching Mike Tyson in the later stages of heavyweight racing.
As such, the pair remain friends, and Roach recently shared a story in which he claimed Iron Mike ignored the opportunity to watch Jake practice.
“Tyson looked at it and left,” Roach told Fight Hype.
“He watched him practice for 30 seconds and left. He said, ‘Freddie, can we come down and look at the pictures?’
“It’s my gym and he knows that’s where the good pictures are. He wasn’t as interested as me.
Roach added of Jake: “The kid is fine, a club fighter. I don’t know him personally and I’ve never really met him.
“He was in my gym and they wanted to work out and use the ring and I said, ‘Okay, go ahead. “”
These remarks did not go down well with the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
Jake told Sam Ellard of talkSPORT: “First and foremost I saw these things that Freddie Roach was saying – that I was like sparring in his gym.
“First of all, I never even trained at the Wild Card gym, Freddie is a fucking idiot, he’s a hater.
“He coached Ben Askren to no avail, literally worthless, he’s off his rocker.
“He literally doesn’t train any good fighters anymore and hates Jake Paul.
“Mike Tyson never watched me train, Mike Tyson was never in the gym at the same time as me training.
“I went to Wild Card like once to talk to someone for a meeting and for my brother’s press conference there.
“But Mike Tyson wasn’t anywhere around, so it’s just Freddie Roach spreading rumours.
“Mostly because me and Mike are friends man.
“Mike wouldn’t do that, Mike wouldn’t say, ‘Ah f*** that kid, let’s go and do something else.’
“Mike respects me and I respect Mike, but it would be stupid to fight.
“I’m down. He could be fun.”
