Ferrari announces HP as new title sponsor of F1 team

Hewlett Packard has announced it will join Ferrari as its new title partner, renaming the team’s official name to Scuderia Ferrari HP in what has been described as a “multi-year” deal.

The American technology company and its distinctive blue logo will feature on Ferrari’s F1 livery from next week’s Miami Grand Prix as well as its team kit and suit. The title’s branding deal will also extend to the Ferrari F1 Academy and Esports programs.

“Our founder passed on to us his continued desire to progress. From this comes our desire to innovate on the road and track, as well as our commitment to a sustainable future, from carbon neutrality to the education of the young generation,” said said Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari.

“We found the same values in HP, which make them an ideal partner. We look forward to beginning our collaboration and tackling new opportunities and challenges together.”

Enrique Lores, Vigna’s HP counterpart, added: “With the technology, performance and exceptional craftsmanship powering the future, the partnership between HP and Ferrari is a natural fit.

“Both brands are built on rich stories that have stood the test of time. Through this unique collaboration, we also have the opportunity to reach new audiences, drive business growth, and create lasting impact for our shared customers and communities. Together, we will leverage the global racing scene to accelerate sustainable innovation.

Along with a branding agreement, HP will also provide Ferrari with its services, ranging from computers, printers and other hardware to conferencing technology.

The Hewlett Packard name is already present in F1 at Mercedes, but the Brackley team’s partner, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, which focuses on cloud and network solutions, is a different, consumer-oriented company from HP. The two HP divisions were split into two separate entities in 2015.

Earlier this week, Ferrari announced it would incorporate blue on a unique livery in Miami.

The change will be made to honor the Maranello brand’s 70th anniversary in the US market, adding two different shades of blue to Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz’s SF24, the so-called Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino.
