FC Copenhagen vs Man City LIVE: Champions League squad news, rosters & more tonight – Yahoo News

Manchester City can qualify for the Champions League Round of 16 if they beat FC Copenhagen tonight. Pep Guardiola’s men currently top Group G with a perfect record of three wins from three games and if they make it four out of four they will guarantee a place in the next round of the competition.

City are in excellent form and come into the game having swept Southampton 4-0 on Saturday, but Guardiola will have his eye on the future. His side will play nine games (including tonight’s game) next month and if they can qualify for the Champions League Round of 16 tonight, the final two group games will provide opportunities for rest and rotation of players.

The odds are certainly in their favor after their last performance in this competition was a dominating one-sided affair against tonight’s opponents. It ended in a 5-0 thrashing at the Etihad last Wednesday when Erling Haaland continued his impeccable form with two goals before Julian Alvarez and struggling Riyad Mahrez also found the back of the net after the goal against his Davit Khocholava’s camp.

Hello and welcome to The Independents coverage of tonight’s Champions League action.

First at 5:45 p.m., Manchester City travel to Denmark to face FC Copenhagen knowing that victory will secure them a place in the round of 16. Pep Guardiola’s men beat Copenhagen 5-0 last week when the Danish side came to the Etihad and City. the boss is hoping for a similar deal tonight.

Following the conclusion of this game, our attention will shift to Glasgow where Celtic host RB Leipzig for an 8pm kick-off. The Hoops are bottom of their group after three games but put up some encouraging performances which will give Ange Postecoglou hope his side can get something out of tonight’s game. They currently have one point from nine, but a win tonight will open the group wide and with Shakhtar Donetsk still to visit Celtic Park, it could give the Scottish side a boost for their Champions League campaign.
