Fantasy Football Rankings for Week 4, 2022: Model says start Dameon Pierce, but sit down Davante Adams – CBS Sports

Carry-for-carry, Chicago running back Khalil Herbert may have once been the best running back in the Bears’ backfield. After David Montgomery left last week’s game, Herbert finished the week as Fantasy’s top running back. Chicago head coach Matt Eberflus says Montgomery is “day to day,” but where should you place Herbert in your Week 4 fantasy football rankings? Detroit running back Jamaal Williams also benefited from extra looks on offense as starter D’Andre Swift battled an ankle injury. Williams finished just behind Herbert last weekend and could again be a secret weapon in your Week 4 fantasy football strategy when the Lions face a weak Seattle run defense. Before you lock in your rosters, be sure to check out the Week 4 fantasy football rankings from SportsLine’s advanced computer model.

When it comes to player rankings, SportsLine’s model has beaten human fantasy football experts over the past few seasons, especially when there were large differences in rankings. Over the course of a season, it could literally be the difference between winning your league or going home empty-handed.

Last week, the model was extremely high on Jaguars running back James Robinson, saying he would finish among the top 10 players in his position. The result: Robinson rushed 17 times for 100 yards and a touchdown, while catching all three of his targets for 16 yards in Jacksonville’s win over the Chargers. Anyone who had him in their roster was on course for a huge week.

Now the model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, has revealed its fantasy football rankings for Week 4 of the 2022 NFL season. Head over to SportsLine now to see them.

Top Fantasy Football Picks of Week 4

One player the role model is being raised on this week: Texans running back Dameon Pierce. After Pierce finished with just 11 carries for 33 yards in Week 1, head coach Lovie Smith said he needed to get more carries on offense, and he stuck to that sentiment. In Week 2, Pierce had 69 productive yards on 15 attempts, and last week he broke through with 20 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown.

This week, the Texans take on the Los Angeles Chargers, who finished with the NFL’s third-worst defense last season and gave up 151 rushing yards to the Jaguars in a loss last weekend. Pierce also finished with a pair of receptions for 21 yards against the Bears and could still be more involved in the passing game this week as the Chargers allowed 134 receiving yards and two touchdowns to opposing running backs. The pattern projects him into the top 10 running backs in Fantasy this week, ahead of others like Austin Ekeler, Aaron Jones and Najee Harris. See who else to target here.

And a huge shocker: Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams, who has scored a touchdown in every game this season, stumbles wildly and doesn’t even make the top 20 at his position. After spending his first eight seasons in Green Bay, Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in the offseason. In his first game as a Raider, Adams had 10 receptions for 141 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers. However, the veteran has recorded just seven receptions for 48 yards in his last two games.

Adams and the Raiders will now face a stingy Denver Broncos defense. The Broncos are passing just 170.3 yards per game this season, the third best in the NFL. Denver has also allowed just one passing touchdown in its last two games, which doesn’t bode well for Adams’ fantasy value this week. With such a tough game on Sunday, Adams is a player to consider benching in Week 4. See who else to fade here.
