We recently learned that casting is soon (or already) underway for Marvel Studios. The Fantastic Four reboot, and a new report claims production is set to start next January.
This gives the studio plenty of time to secure its set and prepare for filming, but it also means we probably shouldn’t expect an official casting announcement for a while yet.
Scooper Daniel Ritchman shared the update (via Patreon), and he added a good dose of rumor to accompany it!
Apparently Ryan Reynolds is keen on revisiting 20th Century Fox’s now-defunct Marvel franchises in Dead Pool 3and wants the actors who played the quartet in 2005 FF movie and its sequel, The Rise of the Silver Surfer, appear. We have no idea if this is something that’s actively underway or just an idea being floated, but it would line up with another recent rumor we’ve heard about Reed Richards actor Ioan Gruffudd. approached to reprise the role in the MCU.
Of course, if that happens, it would also give Captain America actor Chris Evans the opportunity to return as Johnny Storm!
Richtman tends to be quite reliable, but we don’t read that much yet. After all, even if Reynolds is interested in signing Gruffudd, Evans, Michael Chiklis (The Thing) and Jessica Alba (Invisible Woman), who’s to say they’d be up for it?
Matt Shakman recently boarded the The Fantastic Four reboot as director, with Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer currently working on the script. Plot details are still a mystery, but Kevin Feige has confirmed that this won’t be another origin story for the super-team.
The Fantastic Four is currently slated to hit theaters on February 14, 2025, while Dead Pool 3 will be with us on November 8, 2024.
