Miley Cyrus has insisted performing her live tour was worth contracting COVID and fans are not happy with her callous commentary.
“Traveling around the world, playing for 100,000 people a night and meeting hundreds of fans a day, the chances of catching Covid are quite high. I have Covid now but it was totally worth it,” she wrote in a Twitter post.

And, while Cyrus may believe the joy (and dollars) she got as a result of her tour was worth catching COVID, many of her fans disagree. The offensive tweet was met with a huge amount of backlash on social media.
“It is insensitive to say that covid is worth it when a million people are dead and thousands are facing a long covid. should have just said she had covid,” one user commented. Another added, “A way to minimize the deaths and permanent disability of MILLIONS around the world who weren’t as lucky and privileged as you .
Some appalled social media users went on to point out that concerts with hundreds of thousands of attendees greatly increase transmission change.

“I’m glad it’s worth it for you, but meeting hundreds of fans a day?? How many people do you think you’ve infected? Are they all going to have the same result as you? Will it be worth it? the penalty for each of them?
“Yeah, I’m sure the people around you gave covid who will pass it on to other innocent people who pass it on to someone who’s not okay and worth it will feel the same way. That’s one of the reasons it’s still a global pandemic.
“Is it worth making someone you come in contact with sick or bringing people together to make each other sick? Let’s be honest, concerts/other gatherings are just COVID parties. Tell me you don’t care about someone who probably won’t do as well as you without telling me…”
A commenter shared that a member of his family had died of Covid and pointed out that Cyrus’ statement was not correct.
“It wasn’t worth it, Miley. I know you have the opportunity to take care of yourself like a pro, you will have medication and you will need to rest. a member of my family passed away due to cov!d and i would do anything to get him back. this disease is worth nothing.
I love you Miley but nearly a million people have died in the US due to Covid. My mother being one of them. Nothing “beats” Covid. Fortunately, you had it when the vaccine was available.
