A large group of football fans stormed a Wembley pub ahead of the UEFA Nations League clash between England and Germany, it has been reported.
The build-up to the match was overshadowed by unsavory scenes outside the Green Man pub, an establishment frequented by fans ahead of Three Lions matches.
The i reports that witnesses claim ‘more than 50 fans wearing balaclavas and masks forced their way into the side entrance’ to the pub at the top of Wembley Hill, which overlooks the stadium.
The report adds that the hooded assailants wore masks covering their faces and some wore English scarves.
A huge fight broke out and lasted about five minutes before mounted police arrived as the group of fighters fled the area.
It is claimed that the police were able to “catch” some of the attackers, however, many of them managed to flee down the hill. It is understood that at least two riot control vans appeared later.
Eyewitness Luke Robinson told me: “There is an entrance at the back of the Green Man and about 50 of them arrived wearing masks and English scarves.
“They burst in, hitting everyone. It lasted a good five minutes before the police arrived.
“A lot of people were in bad shape. People were on the ground, unconscious, covered in blood. Even the children – a boy under 13 had a bloody nose.
The report adds that paramedics treated the injured after the incident, with some people left to drink.
Robinson added: “One guy was with paramedics and still unconscious when we left.
He added: “This is the main pub in England. I’ve never seen it like this before and I come to every home game. We were there when England played Germany at the Euros and when there was all the trouble around the final, but it’s the first time I’ve seen it like this.
