Leclerc will start ahead of Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton after the hour-long session, which is split into three segments with five cars each eliminated in Q1 and Q2 before the Q3 top-10 shootout.
The weather conditions were wet under the floodlights, but the track dried out in time for the cars to run on slicks in Q3. Championship leader Max Verstappen had a nightmare when he was forced to abort his final lap, after being ordered to do so by his team, and he will start eighth.

What happened in Q1 of the Singapore Grand Prix?
Lewis Hamilton set Mercedes’ early pace at 1m56.937s, with all cars running intermediates from the start. Teammate George Russell lowered the P1 time to 1m55.842s before Leclerc set 1m55.054s and then took a quick excursion off the track.
As the track dries out, the times drop: Hamilton regains first place with 1m54.689s, who is beaten by Verstappen with 1m54.395s then Leclerc with 1m54.222s then 1m54.129s. Hamilton regained the upper hand in 1m53.161s, before Verstappen clocked an unbeatable 1m53.057s on his final lap.
At the first obstacle, Valtteri Bottas (Alfa Romeo), Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren), Esteban Ocon (Alpine) and Williams duo Alex Albon and Nicholas Latifi fell.

What happened in Q2 of the Singapore Grand Prix?
Still on the intermediates, Leclerc set the bar at 1m52.343s, 0.34s ahead of Hamilton and 0.38s ahead of Verstappen. For the final races, a few riders bet on slicks with others using worn intermediates, but the leaders didn’t improve anyway.
At this stage, the eliminated were – surprisingly – Russell, Lance Stroll (Aston Martin), Mick Schumacher (Haas), Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin, who did his last lap on slicks) and Zhou Guanyu (Alfa Romeo , also on tablecloths at the end).

What happened in the third quarter of the Singapore Grand Prix?
The majority of the peloton opted for soft slicks and tanked for the entire session. Yuki Tsunoda (AlphaTauri) set the pace early in the intermediates before Hamilton smashed his time by more than two seconds with 1m53.082s.
Verstappen went under 1.2s, but Hamilton went even faster at 1m51.019s. Verstappen’s next lap was 0.376 seconds slower.
Leclerc was first in the 1m49s with 1m49.412s, 0.171s ahead of Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, as Verstappen interrupted a seemingly faster lap. Perez snatched P2, just 0.022 seconds behind Leclerc as Hamilton took third at 1m49.466.
But the big story was that Verstappen aborted again, after being asked to fight by his team, locking him out in eighth place.
Sainz will start fourth, ahead of Fernando Alonso (Alpine), Lando Norris (McLaren), Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri), Verstappen, Kevin Magnussen (Haas) and Tsunoda.
