“Exhausted” Korda withdraws from upcoming LPGA Tour event

Nelly Korda withdrew from this week’s LPGA Tour event “to rest” after winning her second major title at the Chevron Championship.

Victory on Sunday gave the American a fifth victory on the tour in five starts, equaling a record set by Nancy Lopez in 1978 and Annika Sorenstam in 2004-05.

“After overcoming the mental and physical challenges of four events in the last five weeks, I definitely feel exhausted,” the world number one wrote on X.

“With so much to come throughout 2024, I feel like I need to listen to my body and rest, in order to be ready for the rest of the season.”

Korda’s winning streak began with the LPGA Drive On Championship in the last week of January.

The 25-year-old then took seven weeks off before returning at the end of March to win three events in three weeks – the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, the Ford Championship and the T-Mobile Match Play – before claiming the championship title Chevron.

Korda added that she will be “cheering for everyone from afar” at this week’s JM Eagle LA Championship.

Her next scheduled appearance on the LPGA Tour will be at the Cognizant Founders Cup in New Jersey, which begins May 9.
