Seven-year NBA veteran Terrence Jones plays in Taiwan, for the Kaohsiung Steelers 17LIVE in the P. League+. However, he is unwavering about his place in the basketball world. Jones explained to Wenzell Ortiz of Sideline Sources why he belongs in the NBA. He detailed how he had the “skills” and “versatility” for today’s game, and lamented the “unfair stigma” which he says defames his name.

Jones, 30, averaged 38.3 points, 12.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists in his first three games in Taiwan. These scintillating performances are just proof of why the big man feels he should still be in the league. He also points to his indelible experiences playing for championship-caliber teams as an auspicious attribute for playing in the association today.

“I think the reason I belong in the NBA is because I’m an NBA veteran with experience as a starter on a team that went to the Western Conference Finals,” Jones told Wenzell. Ortiz from Sideline Sources. “I have the skills and versatility to adapt to today’s NBA more than those years. Plus, I can defend multiple positions and make plays for myself and my teammates. I’m always proud to play winning basketball and I know I could help a team in the playoffs.

The former Wildcat also opened up about how much he’s grown since playing in the NBA.

“I would love the opportunity to support my son and my family by playing in the best league in the world. I grew up as a professional on and off the pitch. I also learned to lead through hard work , positive energy and communication. This has allowed me to be the best role model and father for all my fans and children in my community.

Finally, Jones lamented the apocryphal and negative stigma that he says belies his reputation.

“For those who follow me around the world, I believe there has been an unfair stigma attached to my name, and if given the opportunity, I would be able to change the narrative.”
