Everyone says the same thing about the Pixel 8a

Google did the Pixel 8a official this week, with all specifications, software features and pricing now available to everyone. That being said, we’ve been shopping around online, trying to get a sense of how the Android community as a whole feels about the device. As usual, Google’s latest smartphone seems to have torn many people.

When it comes to Pixel smartphones, Internet users never hesitate to share their opinions. The Pixel 8a is no different, with quite a few people asking a straightforward question: why buy this phone when the Pixel 8 already exists? While we suppose it’s a question someone might ask, even though it’s literally $200 cheaper than the Pixel 8, there’s room for what will certainly be a more nuanced conversation, especially if the We look at Google’s history of selling the Pixel A series through places like Google Fi.

Google Hardware is a portal to Google services, whether it’s things like Google Search, Google Photos, or Google Fi. The new Pixel 8a is just the latest device to help you invest in the Android/Google ecosystem, and at $499, it’s actually a solid smartphone option with what’s sure to be a great device photo and 7 years of OS upgrades. And yes, it will probably be on sale all the time.

Now that my opinion is settled, let’s see what the Android community thinks. Below we have a collection of comments from the Droid Life community and Reddit community. Take advantage and feel free to engage in a little speech below.

Community reactions

recycled_ideas – The perpetual problem with mid-range phones. If price is your main concern (as it is in many developing countries), they are still too expensive and if price is not your main concern, you are giving up too much.

SevenLittleShrimps – This is why I bought the 8 when it went on sale last month. The 8a will be a better deal when the 9 comes out and they stop selling the 8, but for now it’s in a weird no mans land.

Melvin – Why pay more for the Pixel 8 when it offers 95% of what the P8 offers?

ranger danger – I don’t know why anyone would buy this when you could just get the Pixel 8 for around $150 more, especially with the summer deals coming up.

Ken (Referring to the pre-order gift of a $100 gift card) – Why do companies do these stupid things? Just shave $100 off the price. I don’t need a $100 gift card. It’s the same value. This just shows you how inflated the cost of a phone is at launch.

Obligation – There will probably be a lot of comments saying “why does this exist” but oddly enough, despite being a less good deal than the normal models, it still sells for a good portion. IIRC, it was 7a that allowed Google to eat away at apple market share in Japan.

Patrikbatemansaxe – Too expensive thick glasses shit. It is what it is.

As you can see, there are many different versions, but many people seem to think that the Pixel 8a just isn’t cheap enough. As ridiculous as it sounds, that $499 price tag allows Google and retailers to make sales on the device while still making money. You can never underestimate the power of a good deal, especially around Black Friday.

Once again, feel free to share your thoughts on the Pixel 8a below. And don’t worry, you can spill your guts, it’s a safe space.
