Every Taylor Swift single, ranked – British GQ

October brings us a lot: novelty coffee drinks, dodgy pop culture Halloween costumes and, in this year’s case, a new Taylor Swift album.

Swift will release her 10th studio album, Midnightson October 21, his first new work since the 2020s Still. However, she did not sit quietly, as after the sale of the masters of her first six albums in 2019, she worked and re-recorded the records. The most recent, Red (Taylor’s version) hit us late last year with Fearless (Taylor version) before that. In typical Taylor Swift fashion, the anticipation of Midnights is already on top thanks to her expert skills in teasing fans with information. In a series of TikTok videos, she previously posted a random list of track names and an internet-melting collab with Lana Del Rey.

But with still a bit of time before Midnights hits our ears, we thought we’d take a trip down memory lane to the singles Taylor Swift has brought us over the past 16 years. Fast said Midnights tells the story of “13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life”, but because we are not Taylor Swift and imbued with the magical talent of creating genre-defying songs, we have instead used our sleepless nights to rank the official singles she has released away. A few maintenance rules: We’ve only chosen songs officially released as singles, so none of the likes of “Welcome to New York” (unfortunately) or “Today Was A Fairytale”, and where possible, we chose (Taylor’s version)-releases. There are bound to be critics, one man’s “Too good” is another man’s “You need to calm down” and all that. But if you criticize this ranking, know that someone in the Slack work channel who has reached more than 50 posts probably agrees with you too.
