Everton have decided to sell Brazilian midfielder Allan to Abu Dhabi side Al Wahda.

The surprise deal was announced on Sunday night, following his fall from favor at Goodison Park.

Allan left Everton to sign Abu Dhabi Al Wahda

Allan arrived with much fanfare from Napoli in the summer of 2020 for around £25million as one of former manager Carlo Ancelotti’s signings.

He was a key figure in Ancelotti’s Everton side, making 57 appearances for the Toffees.

But his role changed drastically after Frank Lampard was appointed to replace the Italian when he left Goodison Park to take charge of Real Madrid.

The 31-year-old hasn’t made a single appearance this season, his last competitive game coming as a late substitute against Watford in May.

He was deemed surplus to requirements for Lampard following the arrivals of Idrissa Gana Gueye and Amadou Onana, and as a result a deal was struck for him to join the UAE Pro League club.

Allan signed a two-year contract with Al Wahda, who took to Twitter to announce the deal, posting a photo of Allan with the club’s kit.

“Welcome Allan to the house of champions,” read a statement.

“Al Wahda Football Club has agreed Brazilian player Alan Marcos, on a permanent transfer deal from English club Everton and a two-season contract, as part of the club’s efforts to strengthen the ranks of the first team and meet the requirements of success.

“The club’s board have welcomed the player ‘Alan’ into the home of the champions, wishing him every success in his career with the team.

“For his part, ‘Alan’ hailed the professional work in completing the contract procedures, expressing his happiness at joining the homeland of champions, and his desire to contribute to achieving more achievements and victories.”
